Become a Wild Things Rescue Volunteer

If you have a little bit of free time, there are lots of ways you can get involved with Wild Things!

Some of these opportunities can be done at home, so if transport is a problem, there are still ways you can help!

Want to become a regular?

We are currently looking for volunteers to help with:

  • Animal care at the centre
  • Transport of animals
  • Rescuing animals
  • Fundraising
  • Co-ordinating care for animals

Some of these opportunities can be done at home, so if transport is a problem, there are still ways you can help!

Wildlife Rescue Team

We often get reports of casualties who are not contained or require checking on. Currently we only have a couple of people who are able to go out to help. We will provide training and equipment, but a little animal experience (doesn’t necessarily need to be wildlife) is helpful!

Rescue Team Requirements

Anyone wanting to join the team must have access to their own transport, be able to think for themselves and problem solve and also be able to follow our protocols. Rescue volunteers may be asked to assist with capture and containment of animals as well as transporting casualties to our centre or the nearest veterinary practice.

How The Team Operate

We will have our own group on Whatsapp, where we will put ‘shouts for help’. These will include information about the job, the location and the plan for the casualty. You will be required to attend at least one training session (either in person or on zoom) before you start and on-going training opportunities will be provided.
